GLASS AGGREGATE CONCRETE

The focus of this research is on the mechanical properties and durability of concrete materials containing various types of glass aggregates. Experimental tests currently undertaken in this project include compressive strength, rapid chloride permeability, absorption and sorptivity, expansions due to alkali-silica reaction, and shrinkage. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), electron dispersive x-ray spectroscopy (EDS) and image processing techniques are applied for improved analysis and quantification of cracking mechanisms and propagation.
